Spectrum Sensors & Controls Releases New Precision Temperature Sensor Selection Guide

St. Marys, PA - July 21, 2010 - Spectrum Sensors & Controls, Inc. has published a new selection guide highlighting their line of Precision Temperature Sensors and Probe Assemblies. The new guide covers in detail high reliability temperature sensing products designed for environmentally harsh or demanding applications. These sensors are manufactured to withstand extreme temperatures, with an operating range from -50°C to +500°C. The guide features specifications on immersion, surface and air/gas sensor assemblies, as well as options for customizing precision temperature sensor probes.

In the guide, Spectrum details the ease of probe customization, beginning with a range of sensing elements such as thermistors, RTDs, thermocouples, ICs and digital temperature sensors. Housing types, including immersion, surface and air/gas, can be designed to utilize a range of materials such as stainless, brass, aluminum, inconel, plastic and more. Spectrum also carries a wide range of connector systems, such as Molex, AMP, JST, Packard and Deutsch. Wire and sleeve insulation is available for electrical isolation, as well as over-molded strain relief, which is ideal for high flex applications. Additionally, special moisture and freeze/thaw resistant designs are available.

Spectrum Sensors & Controls designs and manufactures custom, application-specific temperature sensors and assemblies for a wide variety of industries, including military and aerospace, medical, industrial, instrumentation, and off-highway/rail transportation. The temperature sensor probes have a fast thermal response as well as excellent thermal tracking, and are calibrated to NIST standards. Spectrum also offers special testing of your temperature sensor to ensure safety and reliability, including dielectric, MIL-STD, IP and NEMA.

About Spectrum Sensors & Controls:

For over 20 years, the ISO-certified Spectrum has been a preferred supplier to many of the world's leading OEMs, a reputation earned through years of developing innovative and effective temperature sensing products. Spectrum Sensors & Controls packages RTD elements, silicon PTCs, IC temperature to voltage transducers and digital temperature sensors. Most sensors cover a temperature range from -50°C to +500°C in both heating and cooling applications. For custom designs, a quick-turn prototype can often be produced within 48 hours, followed by a complete global logistic support program. In addition to the design and manufacturing facility located in St. Mary's, Spectrum Sensors & Controls operates low-cost production centers in Mexico and China.

Spectrum also manufactures a variety of precision position sensors and potentiometers in Grass Valley, CA. The Precision Positioning Sensors Operation offers co-molded conductive plastic precision potentiometers and position sensors, as well as element segments and cable assemblies. Designs for these potentiometers and position sensors include rotary, motorized, hollow shaft, linear and fader types, as well as element segments and custom assemblies.
