SPE Unveils Recipients of 2008 Annual Awards



SPE Annual Awards Recognize Excellence

Brookfield, CT - The Society of Plastic Engineers (SPE) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2008 Annual Awards program. These awards recognize excellence in plastics in five specific areas:
o Benefit to Society (the John W. Hyatt Award) - Dr. Steven M. Kurtz, Exponent, Inc.
o Business Management - Dr. Werner Wittmann, Wittman Kunststoffgerate GmbH
o Education (the Fred E. Schwab Award) - Dr. Paul E. Koch, Penn State - Erie, The Behrend College
o Engineering/Technology (the Fred O. Conley Award) - Dr. L. James Lee, The Ohio State University
o Research - Dr. Dilhan M. Kalyon, Stevens Institute of Technology

International Award
SPE's most prestigious award, the International Award, recognizes lifetime achievements in the plastics industry. This year's recipient is Dr. Robert A. Weiss from the University of Connecticut.

Award recipients will be presented their awards at SPE-ANTEC 2008 on Sunday evening, May 4th during the "SPE Celebrates!" banquet in Milwaukee.

Plastics News' Plastics Encounter and SPE's ANTEC are co-locating in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the Midwest Express Center from May 4-8, 2008.
