At SPE ANTEC® 2016, SPE will introduce 6 new Honored Service Members who are being recognized for their contributions to the Society. Only 322 members have received this recognition since it was established in 1992. To be chosen, candidate must have demonstrated long-term, outstanding service to, and support of, the Society and its objectives. New honorees include: Brian Grady, Hoang T. Pham, Antoine Rios, Gerald W. Taylor, Paul Uglum, and Bill Windscheif.

SPE to Recognize 'Honored Service Members' at ANTEC® 2016
BETHEL, CT, U.S.A., -- At next month’s SPE ANTEC® 2016, the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) will introduce six new Honored Service Members who are being recognized for their contributions to the Society.
ANTEC 2016, the world’s largest plastics technical conference, will take place May 23-25 at the JW Marriott Indianapolis in Indianapolis, Indiana, U.S.A.
Only 322 members, including the current inductees, have received Honored Service Member recognition since the honor was established in 1992. To be chosen, a candidate must have demonstrated long-term, outstanding service to, and support of, the Society and its objectives.
The new honorees are:
Brian Grady. Since 1994, Dr. Grady has been employed by the University of Oklahoma as a faculty member in the School of Chemical, Biological and Materials Engineering and currently is the Conoco-DuPont Professor of Chemical Engineering. He served on the Executive Committee of SPE from 2008-2012 and served as Secretary of the Society in 2010-2011. He was elected as a Fellow of the Society in 2012. He received a B.S. from the University of Illinois in 1987, and a PhD from the University of Wisconsin in 1994, both in Chemical Engineering.
Hoang T. Pham. Dr. Pham is currently working at Avery Dennison, with research in films for labels and specialty packaging. Current research interest includes special barrier, shrinkable, and sustainable films for packaging and labeling. Previously, Dr. Pham spent over 22 years at The Dow Chemical Company, with research and development focus on new materials and processing developments. He is an active member of SPE and has served on the Engineering Properties and Structure Division Board. He received his PhD in Polymer Science at the University of Akron.
Antoine Rios. Since 1999, Dr. Rios has been at The Madison Group, where he is a partner and senior managing engineer. His work focuses on plastics failure analysis, composites, forensic analysis, and part design. He has written various papers and chapters related to plastics failures, processing, and simulation. Dr. Rios is a senior member of SPE and a board member of the SPE Composites Division and the Failure Analysis SIG. He has served as 2010/2011 chair of the Composites Division and is currently the division secretary. Dr. Rios earned a Ph.D. from the Polymer Engineering Center at The University of Wisconsin – Madison.
Gerald (Gary) W. Taylor. His career of 44 years in the plastic industry began with Kent Industries, a processor of thermoplastic and thermoset engineered resins using injection, compression, blow molding, and extrusion. Joining the Akro-Mils Division of Myers Industries as an engineer, he coauthored several patents; promoted to plant manager, he oversaw all aspects of the facility, focusing on modernization and lean process improvements. Mr. Taylor retired in 2013. An SPE member since 1982, he has served as 1999/2000 Section President, following many other positions and chairs. Current service to the Board include Section Treasurer, Education Foundation, 2016 TPE Topcon Committee, and Co-House Chair.
Paul Uglum. A technical advocate at Delphi Electronics and Safety, Mr. Uglum has 39 years of experience with plastics materials, decoration and failure analysis. His current responsibilities include technology development for automotive interior applications globally, coatings development, and failure analysis. He has presented numerous papers and has twice led teams to win the SPE Automotive Division Grand Award for the most innovative use of plastics in the automotive industry. He holds several patents relating to the compounding and application of plastics. Mr. Uglum served as chairman and technical chair for the SPE Decoration and Assembly Division. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Wartburg College and a master’s degree from Purdue University, both in chemistry.
Bill Windscheif. Mr. Windscheif is founder and president of Advanced Innovative Solutions, a specialty consulting company focused on polymer-based materials, processes, design, and marketing. Prior to forming AIS, he was manager of the Automotive Business Unit for Flint Hills Resources (formerly Huntsman LLC). He was vice president of global business for Basell Advanced Polyolefins and held executive and management positions with other plastics raw material companies in a career of many years in the polymer and automotive industries. A longtime member of SPE, he has served as chair of the SPE Global TPE Conference since 1999 and as a board member of the Detroit Section since 2008. He is Chairman Emeritus of the American Plastics Council (APC) and is member of the Oakland University and Kettering University Polymers Advisory Boards.
