Both Groups Issue Call for Papers for a Combined Event Encompassing Extrusion and Web Converting, with Strong Synergies for Producers of Flexible Packaging

NEWTOWN, CT, U.S.A., -- The Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) will draw on the strong synergies between extrusion and web converting by co-locating its next Flexible Packaging Conference (FlexPackCon) with the Fall 2014 Web Coating and Handling Conference sponsored by the Association of International Metallizers, Coaters, and Laminators (AIMCAL).

Scheduled for October 19-22, 2014 at Myrtle Beach, SC, U.S.A., the event will consist of four tracks: AIMCAL’s Web Coating, Vacuum Web Coating, and Web Handling sessions, and SPE’s FlexPackCon. There will also be a two-day tabletop exhibition with about 75 exhibitors.

Both groups have issued a call for papers, with abstracts due by May 17.  SPE abstracts may be submitted at http://goo.gl/aBnKaX. AIMCAL submissions may be made at www.aimcal.org.

“The complementary nature of the extrusion, coating, and laminating processes encompassed by FlexPackCon and the roll-to-roll web coating and handling technologies that are the focus of the AIMCAL conference will enhance the value of this combined event for R&D, manufacturing, and marketing professionals,” said Donna Davis, FlexPackCon chairperson and senior market advisor at ExxonMobil Chemical Company.

“Both meetings have a history of success,” said AIMCAL executive director Craig Sheppard. “In fact, the AIMCAL conference has set an attendance record in each of the past three years.”
