SPE-ANTEC & Plastics Encounter Annual Event Deemed a Great Success

Attendance in Cincinnati of the combined event reaches 3,546

CINCINNATI, OH - As today concludes the first ever co-location of SPE-ANTEC, the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) annual technical conference with Plastics News' Plastics Encounter trade show, the attendance numbers support a favorable response from the industry.

As of today, the last day of the combined events, total attendance reached 3,546 people.

"It is our ongoing objective to increase value to the SPE membership in a variety of ways, with this being one of them," says Susan Oderwald, executive director of SPE. "The positive response to our events being combined is validation that our members are happy with our decision. Additionally, by coupling SPE-ANTEC with Plastics Encounter, it has helped SPE gain access to a more corporate audience, which aligns with our ongoing objective of expanding our corporate reach."

"We've heard a positive response from the show floor, and we're thrilled with the outcome of combining both events," says Plastics News vice president/publisher Tony Eagan. "On the one hand, attendees that walked the show floor had the benefit of being exposed to a well-rounded cross section of the plastics industry. Conversely, with over 225 companies exhibiting at Plastics Encounter at ANTEC, it is obvious that exhibitors recognized the value of combining these two
events."

SPE and Plastics News will again be co-locating their events in 2008. The combined conference and exhibition will be held at the Midwest Express Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, from May 4 through May 8, 2008.
