Sony Launches Designs for Micro Vault Lineup at CES

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 4 / -- CES Booth # 14200 -- At this year's Consumer Electronics Show, Sony Electronics will unveil a redesigned Micro Vault lineup, which will include the Micro Vault "Tiny," the Micro Vault PRO 8GB, the Micro Vault Classic and Turbo and the Micro Vault with Fingerprint Access. Each offers users substantial storage capacity and high transfer speeds in stylish designs.

"We're really focusing on new, conducive designs that deliver high performance in high style," said Mike Lucas, Sony's marketing director for consumer media products.

Micro Vault Just Got 'Tinier'

The new Micro Vault "Tiny" is Sony's smallest USB flash drive with a fun, fashionable design and color-coded capacities. Measuring roughly 1/2 inch wide and just over one inch in length, the drive offers storage capacities of 256MB to 2GB, and plugs directly into standard USB ports.

"The new Micro Vault 'Tiny' drive's fun, compact design is sure to be a hit among fashion-forward professionals and students alike," Lucas said. "It gives new meaning to the phrase 'Good things come in small packages.'"

Micro Vault PRO Hard Disk Memory Reaches 8GB

Sony is now offering Micro Vault PRO in an 8GB storage capacity. Smaller than a deck of cards, the drive plugs directly into a USB port with a unique swivel connector.

The Micro Vault PRO 8GB drive offers pre-loaded Auto Sync software that automatically synchronizes file changes made on the PC's hard drive, allowing for seamless transition of data between locations, and saves up to 10 generations of file changes.

"Our new 8GB capacity drive offers users greater capacity and mobility at a reasonable value," Lucas said. "The drive's compact design also makes it ideal for busy professionals on the go."

The Micro Vault PRO 8GB drive will be shipping in February with a suggested retail price of $229.99.

Micro Vault Flaunts a New Look

Sony's refreshed Classic and Turbo Micro Vaults sport sleek, new looks with chrome highlights. Each drive has a convenient one-piece design, with a retractable USB connector -- and no cap to misplace.

The Classic ranges in capacity from 256MB to 4GB. The Turbo model has a capacity of 1GB to 4GB, a transfer speed of up to 28MB per second, and a read speed of 18MB per second.

The drives are preloaded with Virtual Expander, which expands the capacity to virtually store up to three times as much data by automatically compressing and decompressing files.

Micro Vault with Fingerprint Access

The new Micro Vault with Fingerprint Access features a swipe sensor, and an integrated cradle for desktop use. It offers a 512MB capacity and its Auto Login software stores and automatically enters Web site IDs and passwords -- so when a finger is swiped over the drive's sensor, users can gain quick and easy access to online accounts. The biometric drive has encryption/decryption capability that securely protects files and folders, and offers a screen saver lock that protects against unauthorized computer access.

The Micro Vault "Tiny," Classic, Turbo and Fingerprint Access drives will begin shipping this spring.
