Sonneborn Announces New President and CEO, Paul Raymond III, Ph.D.
Parsippany, NJ - Sonneborn, LLC, a global leader in the manufacture and supply of high quality white oils and specialty hydrocarbons announces the appointment of Paul C. Raymond III as President and Chief Executive Officer effective December, 2012. Dr. Raymond brings more than 20 years of relevant industry experience to his new role and previously served as President of Ashland Water Technologies, a leading global supplier to industrial and municipal customers of water treatment and functional chemistries.
Prior to his position as President of Ashland Water Technologies, Dr. Raymond was President of the Water Technologies commercial unit and a Senior Vice President of Ashland in 2008 following Ashlandfs acquisition of Hercules.

Dr. Raymond began his career in 1989 with General Electric as a process engineer for GE Plastics working in the US, Japan and the Netherlands. He joined GE's sales organization as Regional Product Leader in 1992, was promoted to Manager of GE's polycarbonate technology operation in Europe in 1994 and then moved to Japan in 1996 as General Manager of Technology for GE Plastics Pacific. He became a Technical Director in 1999 at GE's central research facility with responsibility for corporate research and development for GE's plastics and lighting businesses and environmental sciences.
In 2000, Dr. Raymond joined Honeywell Electronic Materials as Vice President, Global Operations, and two years later was promoted to Vice President and General Manager. He joined Hercules in 2005 as a Vice President and President of the company's Pulp and Paper Division, and in 2006 assumed leadership of Hercules' business ventures as part of the newly created Paper Technologies and Ventures Group. Dr. Raymond joined Ashland in 2008 as a result of the acquisition of Hercules by Ashland.
A native of Midland, Texas, Dr. Raymond received his undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Rice University and his doctorate in chemical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
