SEIA President Rhone Resch Calls on U.S. Solar Energy Industry to Be America's Leading New Energy Provider

Goal of powering 2 million new homes annually achievable by 'Team Solar'

LOS ANGELES -- Rhone Resch, President and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), today addressed the General Session of Solar Power International 2010 (SPI), the largest business-to-business solar energy conference and expo in North America. Below is a link to the full text of his remarks.

Resch cited midyear growth data and industry forecasts released today by SEIA and GTM Research to set a goal for the U.S. solar industry to "become America's number one source of newly installed energy within five years," by deploying enough solar energy to power two million new homes (10 gigawatts) each year by 2015. By reaching that goal, the solar industry would help reduce the need for new coal and nuclear power plants, and build on the tens of thousands of new jobs the solar industry is creating. To reach that goal, Resch called on industry members to work together as "Team Solar" and be actively engaged in growing the U.S. solar market.
