Press release date: July 19, 2006

Tustin, Calif. & Torrance, Calif. - July 19, 2006 - silex technology america, Inc., and Seiko Instruments USA, Inc., announced today a partnership that will enable wired and wireless network printing solutions for Seiko Instruments' line of Smart Label Printers.

The partnership is a result of both companies wanting to strengthen their product offering for key markets including the healthcare and manufacturing industries. Customers in these key industries can now use the Seiko Instruments' Smart Label Printers and enjoy the benefits of network connectivity.

The silex wired and wireless print servers, the SX-1000U and SX-2000WG respectively, can quickly convert Seiko Instruments' Smart Label Printers into shared resources on an 802.11b/g WLAN. The Seiko Instruments SLP 400 Series printers print one label or a group of labels on demand quickly and efficiently, creating a cost-effective solution for companies looking to share those functions among multiple users.

"In contrast to other wireless and wired print servers on the market today, the silex SX-2000WG and SX-1000U device servers offer an exceptional solution that makes it possible for users to network their printing functions," said Dennis Cox, director of sales and marketing for the business and home/office product division. "This partnership is one that produces immediate benefits for Seiko customers, as their new Smart Label Printers can now be used in a wireless or wired network environment."

"This partnership utilizes the best features of silex's wired and wireless device servers to further enhance the capabilities of Seiko Instruments' Smart Label Printers," said Keith Sugawara, general manager for silex technology america's wireless & connectivity division. "silex is pleased the SX-2000WG and SX-1000U can provide Seiko Instruments and its growing base of customers with the capability to share these products across a wireless or wired network. Having the ability to share USB devices across a network is one of the simplest and most economical ways to streamline everyday business tasks."

Under the partnership agreement between silex and Seiko Instruments, Seiko Instruments will promote the silex SX-2000WG wireless device server and SX-1000U wired device server through its independent office technology dealer channel. Authorized Seiko Instruments dealers can work directly with silex for sales and product support.
