Sigma-Aldrich Launches Protease Finder

ST. LOUIS, Jan. 30 - Sigma-Aldrich (NASDAQ:SIAL), a leading $1.7 billion Life Science and High Technology Company, is pleased to announce it has launched Protease Finder, a novel Internet-based program expected to accelerate customers' success by providing a targeted proteolytic enzyme search capability unavailable on the Web today. This innovative Web tool can be accessed at sigma-aldrich.com/proteasefinder .

Sigma-Aldrich's new Protease Finder identifies individual proteases that can be used to cleave a distinct peptide bond within the researchers protein or peptide sequence. The user need only input the amino acids surrounding their desired cleavage site. This interactive tool allows researchers to find specific cleavage information for over 70 unique enzymes, as well as providing easy access to even more detailed technical information. Protease Finder eliminates the time needed to determine which proteolytic enzyme best suits a cleavage application, freeing more time for actual research. All search results reference existing Sigma-Aldrich enzymes.

"Giving researchers the ability to quickly identify the correct protease for their needs, the Protease Finder saves valuable time while providing both useful information and products," said Bob Gates, Product Manager, Proteins and Enzymes. "With over 140 proteolytic enzyme products available, Protease Finder displays the breadth of Sigma-Aldrich's Enzymes product line."

The Protease Finder is yet another enhancement to Sigma-Aldrich's already popular Enzyme Explorer. To learn more about the Protease Finder or the Enzyme Explorer, visit Sigma Aldrich online at sigma-aldrich.com/enzymeexplorer .
