Siemens Hands over Malzenice CCPP in Slovakia to E.ON

On December 30, 2010 Siemens Energy handed the Malzenice combined cycle power plant
(CCPP) in Slovakia over to the purchaser, E.ON. Thanks to Siemens' ultra-modern burner
technology, nitrogen oxide emissions are very low. The new plant also features high on-line
versatility, short start-up times and fast load cycling - properties that are becoming more
and more important against the background of increasing shares of fluctuating wind power
in the grid. Thanks to its high efficiency of 58 percent the power plant, with a net output of
417 megawatts, will supply more than 900,000 households with environmentally friendly
electricity.

The natural-gas-fired Malzenice power plant is located near Trnava, around 60 kilometers northeast
of the capital, Bratislava, in a region of dynamic economic development. "This plant embodies
F-class gas turbine technology in a single shaft design that has already proven its merits in over 50
projects around the world," says Lothar Balling, head of GT Power Plant Solutions within the Fossil
Power Generation Division of Siemens Energy. "With a peak efficiency of over 58 percent, it
makes an important contribution to a reliable, economic and ecofriendly power supply in Slovakia.
CO2 emissions are very low thanks to the natural gas fuel that is used and our modern
technology." Siemens Energy has erected the plant as a turnkey solution and supplied all the
major components - a SGT5-4000F gas turbine, a SST5-5000 steam turbine, the hydrogen-cooled
generator of type SGen-2000H, the entire electrical hardware, and the SPPA-T3000 I&C system.
The power plant is of single-shaft design, with all main components lined up along a single axis.

Highly efficient combined cycle power plants are part of Siemens' Environmental Portfolio. In fiscal
2010, revenue from the Portfolio totaled about EUR28 billion, making Siemens the world's largest
supplier of ecofriendly technologies. In the same period, our products and solutions enabled
customers to reduce their carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 270 million tons, an amount equal to
the total annual CO2 emissions of the megacities Hong Kong, London, New York, Tokyo, Delhi and
Singapore.

The Siemens Energy Sector is the world's leading supplier of a complete spectrum of products, services and solutions
for the generation, transmission and distribution of power and for the extraction, conversion and transport of oil and gas.
In fiscal 2010 (ended September 30), the Energy Sector had revenues of approximately EUR25.5 billion and received
new orders totaling more than EUR30.1 billion and posted a profit of more than EUR3.6 billion. On September 30, 2010,
the Energy Sector had a work force of more than 88,000. Further information is available at: http://www.siemens.com/energy.
