Selecting the Right Safety Management Metrics Series (8) Measuring Employee Behaviors with a Safety Perception Survey

The Three Sixty Safety Perception Survey was created to benchmark and measure the improvement in the level of employee safety behaviors by establishing predictive correlations between key performance indicators and balanced scorecard safety metrics in an organization.  In order for this to be a reliable diagnostic tool it must measure directly observable behaviors and correlate them to defined safety metrics which validate the efficacy of the Three Sixty Safety System.  This data provides a road map for organizations to measure improvement in risk mitigation strategies, OSHA compliance initiatives, cultural mindset improvement and cost control and reductions.

The Survey was developed from 30 years experience working directly in the workers compensation, risk management and injury care and control industries.  Survey credibility and validation testing was provided under the guidance of  Dr. Palmer Morrell-Samuels, professor of Public Health at The University of Michigan and a renowned employee survey specialist.

The Three Sixty Safety survey is comprised of assessment items derived from each of the system drivers.  The four system drivers are risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, cultural mindset and financial performance.  The survey creates a diagnostic evaluation of the improvement of employee safety behaviors associated within each system driver and establishes a safety profile for the organization.  Pre and post (safety system installation) survey administration validates the effectiveness of the Thee Sixty Safety System.

The survey is designed to segregate and report directly observable safety behaviors by level in the organization, by department, by location and by tenure.  Custom data sets can be developed under certain circumstances.
