Sandvik Coromant to Display a Wide Variety of Innovation at IMTS 2006

Fair Lawn, New Jersey, June 2, 2006 - At IMTS 2006, Sandvik Coromant will be displaying a large array of new tools and inserts designed to reduce costs by boosting productivity. The company will once again showcase products in two booths, E-2305 in the Tooling Pavilion and A-9216 in the Metal Cutting Pavilion.

Sandvik Coromant's "must visit" main booth will showcase a broad spectrum of new products, while also hosting many exciting activities. Simultaneously, the booth in the Metal Cutting Pavilion will focus on the cost benefits of involving Sandvik Coromant in the purchase process when investing in a new machine in order to "Get It Right From The Start".

Among the new inserts being displayed will be two new generation milling grades, GC1030 and GC4240 that allow for higher efficiency in steel milling. GC1030 uses a unique PVD coating to improve wear resistance, making it extremely versatile and reliable. GC4240 contains an entirely new substrate and CVD coating to offer high security and excels in shoulder milling or any other demanding steel milling operations that require high metal removal rates. GC1030 also performs extremely well in titanium and high temperature alloys.

Also of benefit to those working with steel, the new generation turning grade GC4225 optimizes roughing and finishing operations in steel turning. GC4225 uses a combination of features to enhance reliability and productivity through better surface finishes, higher feed rates and cutting speeds and improved plastic deformation and crater wear resistance.

Sandvik Coromant's CoroMill 365 represents a new concept in cast iron milling. The tool uses a strong, stable cutting body and precision ground inserts to achieve high metal removal and feed rates. The extra close pitch cutters use a wedge clamp design to achieve excellent production economy. Additionally, the CoroMill 365 features inserts with up to 8 cutting edges. Sandvik Coromant will also be introducing new products to boost productivity in milling titanium and other exotic alloys which are difficult to machine.

In the area of tool holding, Sandvik Coromant will be showing the new Coromant Capto Damped Milling Adaptor. This tool's sophisticated dampening mechanism virtually eliminates all vibration during endmilling or profile milling with overhangs up to seven times tool diameter.

With a continued dedication to improving efficiency in holemaking, Sandvik Coromant developed the CoroDrill 805. This tool enables deep hole drilling of up to 15 times the hole diameter without moving the workpiece to a dedicated machining or requiring extra coolant pump capacity. Sandvik Coromant is also releasing further additions to the CoroDrill 880 line. With its unique Step Technology, the CoroDrill 880 enables feed rates to be increased by up to 100%.
