Sandvik Coromant Holds HRSA Machining Seminar for Aerospace Customers

Fair Lawn, New Jersey, June 3, 2008 - Sandvik Coromant recently conducted two weeks of customer training and seminars at its Productivity Center in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The cutting tool supplier's National Portfolio Manager and Aerospace Industry Specialist, Chris Mills and Sean Holt, headlined the two-day technical conferences, concentrating on machining heat resistant super alloys in the manufacture of aerospace engines.

Topics included: optimizing metal removal rates, machining with Sialon ceramic grades, optimizing carbide facemilling, high speed machining technologies and turn-milling theory and applications. Additionally, Messrs. Mills and Holt provided a workshop session about effective machining methods for high-pressure applications, and conducted live demonstrations showing the manufacture of an engine disc and representative casing.

Customers were also treated to a discussion on trends in aerospace manufacturing with company president John Israelsson, as well as a training session with product specialist Jim Grimes, who detailed the continued development of Sandvik Coromant's Coromant Capto® toolholding system.
