Safety Recommendations address loss of helicopter engine power.

Press Release Summary:

Recommendations made to U.S. Department of the Interior and U.S. Coast Guard by NTSB included identifying and developing systems and procedures to mitigate risk of ingestion of raw gas discharges as well as subsequent implementation by fixed offshore oil platform operators. Recommendation to American Petroleum Institute included finalizing API Recommended Practice 2L revisions to address venting of raw gases as risk to turbine-powered helicopters operating near fixed offshore oil platforms.
