SAAMI Visits PCB Facilities in Depew, NY

Ballistics Pressure Measurement Training Course

Depew, NY, USA – PCB Piezotronics, Inc. was pleased to host the Sporting Arms and Ammunition Manufacturers' Institute (SAAMI), at its headquarters in Depew, NY. SAAMI is an association of the nation's leading manufacturers of firearms, ammunition and components.

SAAMI was founded in 1926 at the request of the federal government and tasked with:

  • Coordinating technical data

  • Promoting safe and responsible firearms use

  • Creating and publishing industry standards for safety, interchangeability, reliability and quality

The visit included twenty SAAMI members from eleven participating organizations. During the visit, PCB® presented sensor theory, proper sensor selection, installation, cable handling, charge amplifier use, sensor cleaning and calibration.  Tours were also given of PCB's crystal manufacturing department and machine shop; in addition to a live fire demonstration in the firing range.

"SAAMI's primary purpose is safety, and we work under the premise that none of us is as smart as all of us",  said Rick Patterson, Managing Director of SAAMI.  "Bringing together test equipment manufacturers and operators promotes the consistent execution of best processes and practices and thereby serves to promote safety."
