Rockwell Collins Names Altera ASIC/MMIC/FPGA Supplier of the Year

Award Recognizes Value of Altera's Service, On-Time Delivery and Superior Products

San Jose, Calif., June 26, 2006-Altera Corporation (NASDAQ: ALTR) today announced it has received the 2006 ASIC/MMIC/FPGA Commodity Supplier of the Year award from Rockwell Collins. This semiconductor supplier award acknowledges significant annual contributions based on superior product quality, timely delivery, total cost of ownership, lead time and customer service. The award was presented by Clay Jones, Rockwell Collins chairman, president and CEO, during the company's recent annual suppliers' conference.

Rockwell Collins is a leader in the design, production and support of communications and aviation electronics solutions for government and commercial customers worldwide. It uses Altera® HardCopy® structured ASICs in military and aerospace electronics applications including the Future Combat Systems (FCS) program. The company has also adopted Altera Stratix® series FPGAs for a variety of designs, including the Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS) Ground Mobile Radio (GMR) program and JTRS-to-Multifunctional Information Distribution System (MIDS) program. According to Canadian market researcher Electronics.ca Publications, defense spending worldwide has steadily increased over the last decade to exceed $1 trillion in 2004. Specifically, the military communications industry has seen high growth, as governments work toward greater battlefield interoperability by networking their forces through advanced communications systems. Use of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology plays a key role in continuing market growth, the researchers report. Altera addresses the giant defense electronics market for programmable logic through its military/aerospace business unit.

Altera's enhanced COTS initiative spearheads development of programmable logic solutions using FPGAs, CPLDs and structured ASICs as well as business practices, to overcome extraordinary military and aerospace design and procurement challenges beyond baseline Department of Defense requirements or competitors' offerings.

"This award demonstrates that our enhanced COTS initiative is delivering substantial benefits to leaders in the military and aerospace industry like Rockwell Collins," said Don Faria, senior vice president of Altera's business groups. "It also focuses on the unique value and ease of migration from FPGA prototype to production HardCopy structured ASICs that is only available from Altera."
