ASTM International Committee on Performance of Buildings Honors Dr. Robert J. Kudder with Award of Merit



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-ASTM International Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings has presented the Award of Merit and title of fellow to Robert J. Kudder, Ph.D., senior consultant at Raths, Raths & Johnson Inc. in Willowbrook, Ill. The Award of Merit is ASTM's highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities.

Kudder has been a member of ASTM International and Committee E06 since 1984. He served a term as E06 membership secretary from 2000-2005 and received an E06 Award of Appreciation in 2007. He was the primary author of ASTM E2128, Standard Guide for Evaluating Water Leakage of Building Walls, which addresses a fundamental need in the building performance evaluation field.

A structural engineer with experience in observation, field and laboratory testing, and repair of nonperforming and distressed structures, Kudder has been with Raths, Raths & Johnson since 1979. He became principal in 1986 and assumed his current role in 2004. He is a licensed structural engineer in Illinois and a licensed professional engineer in Colorado and Ohio.

In addition to ASTM International, Kudder is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Construction Specifications Institute, Exterior Design Institute, the Masonry Society and the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois.

A graduate of Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., where he earned his Ph.D. and an M.S. in civil engineering, Kudder also holds a B.Eng. in civil engineering from Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York, N.Y.
