RJG Partners with ShapeGrabber®
ShapeGrabber® designs and manufactures cost-effective 3D laser scanners and digitizers for 3D inspection, modeling and reverse engineering. ShapeGrabber laser scanners deal effectively with complex, hard to measure part dimensions, unlike traditional methods that rely on the 3D inspection of a few points. The system is easy to use; no programming or CAD training is required. The software automatically does a precise data alignment to CAD. The 3D laser scanner and digitizer bring speed, accuracy and full coverage to computer-aided inspection.
With ShapeGrabber technology, concrete data on part consistency can be directly correlated to cavity pressure readings from RJG's eDART System(TM). Through this partnership RJG will be able to direct customers to ShapeGrabber, offering them a new perspective in part measurement after the molding process is complete. The system allows the user to look at part attribute data, faster than traditional methods would normally allow. The result is that production staff can make rapid pass/fail decisions with the confidence that the whole part has been inspected, and designers get accurate and timely feedback on their prototypes. Digital inspection reports can save the steps in a project to be used for documentation purposes or for review at a later time. The 3D imagery has operator independent accuracy and reduces inspection time for the processor. Real time warp analysis lets the processor know immediately if a part is warped.
This partnership provides a robust correlation of process variables to part dimensions, allowing process alarm set-points to be easily determined. The data collected allows the user to set alarm limits for automated process monitoring and containment using failsafe part sorting.
ShapeGrabber has placed one of their 3D laser scanners in the RJG training lab on consignment. Training students and seminar attendees will have access to the system through hands on demonstrations and can see how the system works in conjunction with the RJG eDART System(TM).
