Rivet Software Launches Online Training Center for Financial Reporting Professionals

Rivet University offers web-based, on-demand XBRL SEC compliance and financial reporting education

DENVER, March 17, 2011 - Rivet Software, the leading provider of financial reporting software and services, has developed an online education center, Rivet University, with 24/7 access to training and help. The learning center's core curriculum is designed to help companies create in-house expertise for XBRL tagging and SEC financial reporting.

Rivet University's current course catalogue includes comprehensive education for XBRL block note tagging and detail footnote tagging using Rivet's Crossfire software. Users can also develop expertise with the Crossfire Reviewer's Guide (CRG), Rivet's collaboration tool that streamlines and integrates the review process for completing SEC financial filings.

Crossfire is currently the most-used software for XBRL financial reporting, accounting for nearly 24% of all SEC filings to date. This software is utilized internally by Rivet's compliance team to create financial reports for full-service clients. Crossfire is also used by Rivet's self-service clients as their in-house solution. More than 30% of Fortune 500 companies have submitted SEC financial reports created with Crossfire.

"Most companies eventually want to own and manage their filing process internally, so our goal is to empower our clients to do so," said Christy Rohrs, Rivet's Director of Education Services. "Our classes take Crossfire users through every step of the XBRL tagging process, with engaging video tutorials, interactive training exercises, and live webcasts on a variety of topics."

Regimented coursework is optional through Rivet University, with quizzes administered throughout to test application knowledge. Users can access and advance through the coursework at their own pace, on their own schedules. In addition to training, Rivet University hosts an extensive resource library with easy-to-access documentation and intuitive help resources.

Rivet University is available to all Crossfire software users. Live support from Rivet's professional services team will continue to be available to supplement online options. Rivet will also continue to offer live classroom training for hands-on instruction from Crossfire experts.

"We conceived and created Rivet University as a one-stop source for information and training for external financial reporting," said Rohrs. "After companies and users develop this core expertise, we can help them integrate and streamline processes well beyond XBRL compliance."

Rivet's Controller and CFO solution packages build on the Crossfire platform to include integration of both external and internal reporting functions. Rivet University's course catalogue is growing to include both Controller and CFO training.

Rivet University will also consolidate third-party news relevant to the financial reporting and compliance communities to keep users informed of regulatory and accounting changes.
