Renishaw Offers Free Technical Seminars on Precision Positioning and Advanced Motion Control Technologies

August 2006 - A global leader in technologies for manufacturing precision, Renishaw this fall is presenting for the first time in the U.S. free full-day "Art of Accuracy" technical seminars. Combining demonstrations with technical presentations, the seminars will detail the capabilities of Renishaw's advanced linear and rotary encoders for high-accuracy position feedback and its laser interferometer systems for machine calibration, analysis and motion control. Titled "Picometers to arc seconds - the art of accuracy," the seminars have been presented in Europe and Israel and are now coming to America. Seminars will be presented Tuesday, Nov. 14, in San Jose, California, and Thursday, Nov. 16, in Portland (Wilsonville), Oregon. Free continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Renishaw has created a special web site - www.renishaw.info/usaseminar - for information on the seminars and on-line registration.

The seminars will feature presentations on the latest Renishaw developments for precision motion control and position feedback applications. Ongoing innovation enables solutions for micron, nanometer and picometer requirements. The presentations will cover a wide range of requirements by drawing on three different technologies - linear and rotary optical encoders, magnetic encoders and sensors, and laser interferometric solutions to system calibration and analysis, picometer positioning accuracies and vacuum operations.

Special focus will be given to motion system performance analysis, introducing attendees to powerful new development and engineering technologies for real-time testing of machine and system dynamics.

Attendees will be able to participate in practical hands-on demonstrations with technology experts. The interactive, small-group sessions have proved extremely popular at previous events held by Renishaw in Europe and the Middle East, by enabling detailed explorations in an informal environment. An attendee at an Israel seminar, Eldad Lapidot of Yaskaw Eshed Technology Ltd, called it "the best technical conference I ever participated in."

Renishaw offers a comprehensive range of technologies for precision positioning and process control across the industrial spectrum, from semiconductor and electronics manufacturing to machine tools and aerospace assembly systems. All feature high performance, rugged reliability, exceptional compactness and installation ease, enabling great design flexibility and application range.

The Nov. 14 seminar will be held at the Crowne Plaza, downtown San Jose, and the Nov. 16 seminar at the Holiday Inn, Wilsonville.
