Proposed Field of ISO Technical Activity to Focus on the Innovation Process
AFNOR, the French member body to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), has submitted a proposal for a new field of technical activity on the innovation process, with a focus on interaction, tools, and methods. As the U.S. member body to ISO, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) invites all interested stakeholders to submit comments on the proposal by Friday, February 8, 2013.
According to the new work item proposal, the activity would focus on the standardization of tools and methods connected to the field of innovation, as well as all aspects of the innovation process, particularly in connection with possible industrial, environmental, and social benefits. The technical activity will involve the development of international standards establishing a common terminology of innovation, increasing awareness of associated intellectual property issues, and integrating sustainable development issues into the larger structure of the innovation process.
All comments on this proposal should be sent to Steven Cornish, ANSI senior director for international policy (isot@ansi.org). Feedback received by the February 8 deadline will be reviewed and compiled for the recommended ANSI position and comment, which will then be presented to the ANSI ISO Council for formal approval.
