PPG Expands Use of DocOrigin Document Generation Software

Global aerospace manufacturer replaces outdated document software with next-gen solution from Eclipse

CAPE CORAL, Fla. – Eclipse Corporation, a provider of enterprise document generation solutions, announced today that PPG Aerospace, a business of PPG Industries, a Fortune 200 global manufacturer, has expanded the license use of DocOrigin 3.0 to support critical division document generation systems. DocOrigin was selected in December of 2013 to replace end-of-life systems from Adobe. PPG and Eclipse worked together during 2014 to migrate many mission critical forms to use DocOrigin in the production environment. The DocOrigin license use was recently expanded for use across all of PPG Aerospace.

PPG Aerospace is a unique group of products and services that each have a long history as an aviation leader. PPG Aerospace  Transparencies is the world's largest supplier of aircraft windshields, windows and canopies. PPG Aerospace  PRC-DeSoto is the leading global producer and distributor of Aerospace coatings, sealants, and packaging and application systems. PPG has global headquarters in Pittsburgh and operates in nearly 70 countries around the world.

According to Justyn Hancock, Global IT Director, PPG Aerospace recognized that their legacy document systems were no longer being supported and the division needed a more modern and efficient solution. "Our current system had reached end-of-life and we were running on obsolete software," explains Justyn. "We evaluated a number of different solutions and considered various options. In the end we chose DocOrigin."

PPG felt that DocOrigin stood out because of the automated form conversion tools that made their migration easy. "The need to accurately convert our existing form templates and the time required for the migration was a big concern for us," says Justyn. "DocOrigin supported all our existing apps and we converted them all without the need for much reprogramming of our ERP software and without consuming many of our internal resources."

Another reason PPG chose DocOrigin was because of its extended capabilities to dynamically enhance the existing forms without having to make changes to their ERP system. PPG also is now able to produce XML directly from our ERP, which PPG plans to use to bring more modern features and benefits to their documents in the future. "We will be consolidating the number of forms we have under DocOrigin, the data driven templates will allow us to reduce our forms maintenance and support." says Justyn Hancock. "And any new forms will be created with DocOrigin GUI Design software."

"We are excited about our relationship with PPG Aerospace. DocOrigin was selected after months of rigorous evaluations and testing by the PPG team. PPG Aerospace joins a growing list of high-tech manufacturers adopting DocOrigin as the solution of choice to replace older, end-of-life systems," said Steve Luke, CEO of Eclipse.
