Powers Fasteners Names Chemist, James Surjan Director of Adhesive Technology


Expands R&D Capabilities for Adhesive Product Lines:

Powers Fasteners, Inc. -- the leading domestic manufacturer of mechanical and adhesive concrete anchoring systems -- has expanded research and development capabilities for its increasing number of adhesive products with the appointment of James E. Surjan to the new position of Director of Adhesive Technology.

The announcement was made by Jake Olsen, Vice President of Research and Development, who said, "Mr. Surjan's considerable experience and educational training as a chemist will be helpful in managing approvals, product testing, technical documentation, training and engineering aspects of adhesives that are sourced products for Powers."

He added that Mr. Surjan would also work with the Vice President of Manufacturing on incoming inspection procedures for adhesive products and with the Director of Engineering in the marketing group on technical documentation for both literature and code approvals.

Mr. Surjan joins Powers after 13 years with ITW (Illinois Tool Works), including the last seven years as Operations and Technology Manager for the Red Head Business Unit. He holds a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Illinois; is studying for a master's degree in business administration from the Keller Graduate School of Management, and is relocating with his wife and children from Saint Charles, Illinois to Brewster, N.Y.

Powers Fasteners, based in Brewster, has also broadened its product lines into a complete offering of powder actuated and gas-fired fastening systems and an extensive line of accessories serving professional construction and plant maintenance markets.
