PMMI Calls for Nominations for Packaging Hall of Fame(TM) Class of 2010, Names 16-Person Commission



Arlington, Va.; -Nominations are open for the 2010 Packaging Hall of Fame Class, PMMI announced today. The annual honor will be presented at a special reception during PACK EXPO International.

"Being inducted into the Packaging Hall of Fame is the top honor a packaging professional can receive in his or her career," says Maria Ferrante, Vice President, Education & Workforce Development, PMMI. "It really is a lifetime achievement award."

Inductees Advance the Field with Leadership, Education and Science Nominations are due to Ferrante no later than August 24, 2010. They can be sent directly by e-mail or submitted through an online nomination form. Submissions should clearly describe how the candidate has:

o Personally advanced the science, technology and practice of packaging (Please cite scientific inquiries, technologies advanced, patents received, etc.)

o Expanded packaging knowledge and the understanding of packaging (Please cite significant roles played in packaging education, research, market analyses, published works, etc.)

o Been a remarkable volunteer leader in the packaging community (Please cite leadership roles played in packaging associations/organizations and the groups' accomplishments during the nominee's tenure.)

Submission Guidelines

o Submit nominations of up to 1,500 words to Maria Ferrante.

o Please include a recent headshot (color) as a .jpg, .eps or .tif file.

o Submissions may be sent by e-mail (mferrante@pmmi.org) or provided by PMMI's online nomination page.

o Nominations will be accepted through August 24, 2010.

o Any industry professional may nominate a candidate, and candidates may be nominated posthumously.

PMMI has also established this year's Packaging Hall of Fame Commission, which will evaluate nominations and choose this year's class. The group represents a cross-section of the packaging community, including suppliers, journalists and end users:

"This high-level group of professionals has the expertise to evaluate submissions from all sectors of the industry," Ferrante said.

The Packaging Hall of Fame recognizes career packaging professionals for their significant contributions to the industry and packaging education. The honor, which PMMI coordinates, has been awarded annually since 1971.
