Patented Stainless Steel Tanks

Corrosion-Resistant Top Quality Coil Constructed

Pittsburg Tank and Tower Group recently purchased the technology and patents of Cobra Tanks. This new technology and equipment allows Cobra Tanks to be field erected from de-coiled stainless steel. The manufacturing of Cobra Tanks is based on exceptional craftsmanship and superior structural features. The continuous coil spiral in all Cobra Tanks is top grade duplex stainless steel. The higher strength and greater corrosion resistance allows for lighter material and easier fabrication.

The steel is formed and welded by using specialized automated equipment to drastically reduce construction time. The innovative continuous coil construction adds strength and ease to building volume capacities ranging from 25,000 gallons to 1,000,000 gallons without the use of lifting devices. Tanks may be designed to hold any product requiring a watertight and durable storage. All tanks are professionally engineered for state and provincial approvals.

During the building process, the adjacent upper and lower bends of the spiral are welded together on an innovative track system supported by a series of rollers that guide the revolving shell upwards on a helical path. This improves the alignment of adjacent edges, and creates stronger welds and hydraulic seals. The track system simplifies wall positioning, eliminates bulging and weld strains.

Cobra Tanks can be fitted with walkways, railings, ladders, stairs, vents, access hatches, drains, flanges, etc. in accordance with the customer's specific requirements. The top and bottom edges of the tank are cut parallel to the ground, and the bottom edge is welded directly to the stainless steel tank floor. Customers have the option of a fixed roof, floating roof, or no roof.

Cobra Tanks can be constructed inside buildings, in confined spaces and in most terrains. All equipment is portable and can easily be transported by road or airlifted into remote areas, resulting in shorter construction times.
