Phoenix Contact Designline Wins iF Design Award

Phoenix Contact's Designline industrial PC recently won an iF DESIGN AWARD 2015 in the "Industry/Skilled trades" category. The International Forum presented the award at a gala in Hamburg, Germany, on February 27.

Jurors evaluated nominated products within the Professional Concept discipline for design quality, functionality, degree of innovation/creativity, relevance, and practicality/degree of development. This year, there were 164 submissions in the Professional Concept discipline, and 43 products received the iF Label.

Designline—developed by engineers in Phoenix Contact's Americas Business Unit in Ann Arbor, Mich., and Harrisburg, Pa.—is a direct machine-mount industrial PC. Its IP65 design eliminates the need for expensive enclosures that take up valuable factory floor space. The integrated VESA standard-mounting pattern provides the ability to mount the system in a variety of ways using off-the-shelf-mounting hardware.

LED display backlighting and a passive cooling scheme ensure long system life and low maintenance costs. In addition, the convenient, removable hard drive tray makes it easy to swap out an HDD/SDD when necessary. It features single-touch and multi-touch touchscreen options and a modern, ergonomic design.
