PESA Shows Streaming Solutions at SCBA Winter Conference

Huntsville, Alabama – PESA, a leading designer and manufacturer of streaming solutions as well as professional audio and video distribution products, will exhibit its PESA Xstream C22 compact streaming system and PESA Xstream C58 during the South Carolina Broadcast Association Winter Conference on Jan. 29, 2015, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

“Today’s broadcasters are not limiting themselves to the traditional broadcast model of distributing content. Streaming has become another way to deliver content to viewers who use multiple platforms for access to live and on-demand programming,” said John T. Wright, PESA senior vice president, sales and business development. “Plus, products like our PESA Xstream streaming appliances are helping stations improve their infrastructures by economically sharing content between facilities.”

The C22 allows broadcasters to compress, stream, and share high-quality content between locations, as well as enable streaming in existing video distribution. As part of a larger hybrid broadcast system or standalone streaming appliance, the C22 can be configured as a two-port video encoder or two-port decoder, or can include one of each. Two units can be paired to allow bi-directional live interaction between sites.

An ideal solution for satellite news studios or remote-based reporters, the C22 has built-in genlock that allows video signals to be locked to an external source for glitch-free video switching. During a live sequence, two external audio sources can be synchronized to either or both video streams. An integrated Web server provides full remote control, so no personnel are required on site for streaming content to another facility. Plus, the C22 offers a variety of video inputs, and its HDMI out allows for local preview.

For applications with larger streaming requirements, the C58 allows up to five video and eight audio input sources to be combined, synchronized, and mixed in real time with any or every video stream, which eliminates timing and latency issues. Video formats including NTSC/PAL, SDI, HD-SDI and 3G-SDI can be combined with decoded IP video sources to create up to five simultaneous full-screen streams and one quad view stream.
