Permlight's LED Light Engines Help Luminaire Manufacturers Meet New Energy Star Requirements

EPA Announces Final ENERGY STAR® Luminaires specification that allows non-directional luminaires with LED Light Engines to qualify for ENERGY STAR

TUSTIN, Calif., March 9, 2011 - Permlight Products, Inc.®, a leader in the design and manufacturing of LED Light Engines, recently released its new catalog of Brillia® LED light engines for luminaire manufacturers which includes LED light engines that will enable luminaire manufacturers to meet the new requirements set by EPA for ENERGY STAR luminaires.

"We are pleased that EPA has added a path to ENERGY STAR qualification using LED light engines and are eager to help luminaire manufacturers use Brillia products to meet the requirements," said Chris Primous, Director of Sales for Brillia. "Being a pioneer in LED light engines with over 200 models of luminaires using our components in the market today, allows us to guide our customers through the new requirements and develop effective solutions for luminaires."

EPA released on February 16, 2011 the new ENERGY STAR Luminaires Specification which will become effective October 1, 2011. In the new specification, luminaires that are not specifically defined as directional luminaires do not require full photometric testing and can qualify using LED Light Engines that have at least 800 lumens minimum and have efficacy of at least 65 lumens per Watt. ENERGY STAR-capable Brillia LED Light Engines from Permlight are engineered to be easily integrated into luminaire designs and be fully prepared to qualify fixtures once the specification becomes effective in October.
