People on the Move

People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards and conformance community.

The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), an ANSI member and audited designator, has announced several additions to its leadership team.

Dain Hansen has been appointed senior vice president of government relations at the association. He has played a critical role in IAPMO since joining the organization in 2010, overseeing the creation and development of its Washington, D.C., office. Mr. Hansen has increased IAPMO’s profile and mission among policy makers, working with members of Congress, White House officials, and key federal agencies to promote the organization’s interests and priorities.

Prior to joining IAPMO, Mr. Hansen worked for ANSI member the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and as a senior policy advisor on Capitol Hill.

Shirley Dewi has been promoted as senior vice president of IAPMO’s R&T management system registration services. Ms. Dewi has worked for IAPMO since 2007, expanding its service department beyond the plumbing and mechanical industries to include business categories such as aerospace firms, schools, government entities, and oil refineries. She was also instrumental in Indonesia’s adoption of a national plumbing standard that included sections of IAMPO’s Uniform Plumbing Code.

Previously, Ms. Dewi was a contract auditor for IAPMO R&T, and worked as a quality manager in the plastic injection molding and electronics industries. She also worked as an operations analyst for Lockheed Martin IMS.

The IAPMO Institute of Building Technology (IBT), a division of IAPMO R&T Lab, has appointed Sanjay “Jay” Mishra as vice president of building product testing. In this role, Mr. Mishra will serve as the head of IBT. He will oversee all aspects of designing and implementing the capabilities of IBT as a resource to provide consulting, R&D, and testing services to the building industry.

Mr. Mishra joins IAPMO with 24 years of experience as vice president of RADCO, where he oversaw the company’s code coordination activities and testing laboratory. He is highly experienced in all aspects of physical compliance testing of building products for code bodies and regulatory approval. He was also RADCO’s chief information officer, represented clients as an expert witness in cases related to water damage, weathering, and structural design, and created procedures manufacturers’ for quality assurance programs.

The ASME Foundation has announced that Noha El-Ghobashy is its new executive director. Ms. El-Ghobashy will oversee the organization’s operations, including providing funding for university scholarships, K12 STEM initiatives, and other programs that benefit the engineering profession.

Ms. El-Ghobashy, a mechanical engineer, worked most recently as ASME’s managing director of engineering workforce and global development. She is the founding president of Engineering for Change, LLC, a global alliance that provides underserved communities with sustainable technology solutions.

ASME is an ANSI member and accredited standards developer.
