People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community. The National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), an organizational member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of Paul Hartgen as executive director of the Council of Manufacturing Associations (CMA). Mr. Hartgen will lead the CMA to broaden the reach of the NAM's advocacy efforts. Prior to joining the NAM, Mr. Hartgen served as national task force chair and special advisor for the National Restaurant Association, where he aided the association to grow through new industry segments. He previously served as president and CEO of the New Hampshire Lodging & Restaurant Association, the Nevada Restaurant Association, and the Restaurant Association of Maryland. He has also volunteered his time as president of the International Society of Restaurant Association Executives and vice president of the International Society of Hotel Association Executives. Mr. Hartgen holds a B.A. in political science from the University of New Hampshire and is a Certified Association Executive from the American Society of Association Executives. The NAM is a professional association for U.S. industry and manufacturers representing small and large producers in every industrial sector in all 50 states. The NAM works to expand manufacturing in the U.S. and strengthen our global leadership by informing legislators, the Administration, media, policy influencers, and the public about manufacturing's vital leadership in innovation, job opportunity, technological progress, and economic security
