The International Association of Plumbing and Mechanical Officials (IAPMO), an organizational member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Abraham I. Murra as director of standards development. He will oversee development and maintenance of IAPMO's full line of standards, including the ANSI-accredited Z124 consensus standards for plastic plumbing products and the Z1000 series for waste disposal products.

Mr. Murra previously worked at the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) as project manager, sustainability standards, managing 16 national and bi-national committees that developed and maintained technical standards for plumbing products. Most recently, he led committees developing standards on water conservation, water reuse, and wastewater.

Prior to emigrating to Canada from Colombia in 2000, Mr. Murra worked as a construction project manager and general manager at Azahara Constructors in Bogotá. He holds a degree in civil engineering from Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and a master's of civil engineering from Cornell University.

IAPMO works in concert with government and industry for safe, sanitary plumbing and mechanical systems.
