People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

NSF International, an organizational member and accredited standards developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has appointed Donna Garren, Ph.D., as president and general manager of its NSF Davis Fresh subsidiary. NSF Davis Fresh is a provider of food safety audits, consulting, training, and testing services for the produce industry.

Dr. Garren has more than 14 years of experience in food safety. Most recently, she served as vice president of food safety programs at the Consumer Goods Forum, where she managed Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) activities in North America. Previously, she served as vice president of health and safety regulatory affairs for the National Restaurant Association (NRA).

Earlier in her career, Dr. Garren spent six years as vice president of scientific and technical affairs at the United Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Association (United), a trade association for produce companies. She also served as the director of research and development and product safety at Boskovich Farms, Inc.

Dr. Garren holds a bachelor's degree in food science and nutrition from Clemson University and a doctorate degree in food science and technology from the University of Georgia.

NSF Davis Fresh is an independent, third-party organization providing global food safety solutions to organizations throughout the supply chain. NSF Davis Fresh provides growers, shippers, processors, distributors, and retailers around the world with field evaluations, laboratory testing, consulting, and training services to verify safer, consistent produce practices.
