People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The Grocery Manufacturers Association, an organizational member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has announced the appointment of Todd A. Turner to the position of vice president of industry affairs. Mr. Turner will lead the association's efforts in sales development and supply chain and technology practices.

Mr. Turner was previously the vice president of membership and urban affairs at the Food Marketing Institute (FMI), where he increased dues revenue by 40 percent, established an associate member program, and developed an industry-wide supplier diversity program. Prior to that he worked at the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies, a think tank focused on the study of issues affecting African American families, and as a pharmaceutical sales representative for Merck and Pfizer.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Grocery Manufacturers Association and look forward to working with the staff and member companies to optimize customer and channel collaboration, which is central to GMA's mission and of critical importance to retailers and consumers alike," said Mr. Turner.

Mr. Turner holds a master of public administration degree from American University and a bachelor's from the University of Virginia.
