People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE), an ANSI organizational member and accredited standards developer, has announced the appointment of Steve Harris as director, advanced network technologies program development. He will be responsible for leading the creation and implementation of educational programs and technical resources for membership within the organization's professional development area.

Mr. Harris is a veteran trainer and network administrator with 10 years of higher education teaching experience and 18 years of multiplatform network systems experience. Most recently, at Comcast University he was instrumental in developing customized training programs designed to increase the technical proficiency of employees. Previously, Mr. Harris was a continuing education professor and network administrator for Camden County College in New Jersey, where he developed high-level training programs for Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and other companies. From 1995 to 1998 he was a Novell network administrator with Rowan University.

Mr. Harris has served since 2005 as a board member of the New Jersey chapter of SCTE and as vice president since 2008. In 2007 he was recognized by SCTE as the Learning and Development Professional of the Year.

SCTE is a non-profit professional association that provides technical leadership for the telecommunications industry and serves its members through professional development, standards, certification, and information.
