People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.
The International Association of Electrical Inspectors (IAEI), an ANSI organizational member, has appointed David E. Clements to serve as CEO and executive director. He will assume this position on July 1, 2010, succeeding James W. Carpenter, a 37-year member of IAEI who has been CEO since 2002.

Mr. Clements has served since 1998 as chief electrical inspector of Nova Scotia Power Inc., where he is responsible for overseeing the electrical inspection department. He also sits as a voting member on the Technical Committee on Canadian Electrical Code, Part I, and is a member of the Regulatory Authority Committee and the Canadian Advisory Committee on Electrical Safety.

Mr. Clements was international president of IAEI in 2007 and served on the board for 13 years. During this time, he chaired a number of committees, including fiscal affairs and long range planning. He is a certified engineering technician and has received a certificate in management from the Canadian Institute of Management through Saint Mary's University, as well as education and training through the Nova Scotia Institute of Technology.
