People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

Stephen Fleming has been named vice provost of the Georgia Tech Enterprise Innovation Institute, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer via its Energy and Environmental Management Center (GTEEMC). The Enterprise Innovation Institute is the nation's largest university-based program of technology-based economic development for business and industry. Broadening the organization's financial base will be among Mr. Fleming's top priorities in leading the institute.

Since 2005, Mr. Fleming has served as Georgia Tech's chief commercialization officer and led the Enterprise Innovation Institute's commercialization services division in creating new companies based on research discoveries. He has more than 13 years of private equity experience at the partner level, and prior to that spent 15 years in operations roles at AT&T Bell Laboratories, Nortel Networks, and LICOM - a venture-funded startup.

Mr. Fleming holds a bachelor's degree in theoretical physics from Georgia Tech and is a member of the IEEE, the American Physical Society, and the Optical Society of America.
