People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

Dr. Cynthia D. Woodley is the new chair of the Conformity Assessment Committee (CASCO), Working Group (WG) 30, Certification of persons, of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). ISO/CASCO/WG 30 is the group responsible for revisions to ISO/IEC 17024, Conformity assessment - General requirements for bodies operating certification of persons.

Dr. Woodley already serves as an assessor for the Personnel Certification Program of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), and also serves on ANSI's International Conformity Assessment Committee (ICAC). In addition, she is a member of ISO/CASCO/WG 21, Management system certification.

A psychometrician and the vice president of Professional Testing Inc., Dr. Woodley has managed many examination programs over the years, and has recently helped several organizations prepare for ISO/IEC 17024 audits.

The American Gas Association (AGA), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has announced the appointment of Laura Sheehan as vice president of marketing and communications.

Bringing more than seventeen years of experience, including media relations, grassroots outreach, and political communications, Ms. Sheehan will develop and implement strategies to promote natural gas and its applications to key stakeholders, such as media, industry leaders, Members of Congress, and consumers.

Before joining AGA, she was vice president at FD Dittus Communications. The former policy director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), she also served as democratic communications director for the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and spokesperson to chairman John D. Dingell (D-MI).

Underwriters Laboratories, an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has appointed Christian Anschuetz to the position of chief information officer.

In this role, Mr. Anschuetz will work to establish IT strategies, goals and priorities, and will provide senior leadership on key technology initiatives in the areas of enterprise resource planning, business process automation, computer systems validation, and electronic communications.

He joins UL after nearly ten years with Publicis Groupe, where he most recently served as executive vice president and chief information officer for the Americas. He formerly served as vice president and director of operations for BCom3.

Mr. Anschuetz was also senior consultant and information security thought leader for Sprint Paranet, and senior partner/founder of UpTyme Consulting.

The American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), an ANSI member and accredited standards developer, has chosen Nancy L. Gavlin as its director of education.

In this role, she will manage AISC's university relations and continuing education activities, as well as oversee the institute's education program for professional engineers.

Before this appointment, she was a visiting lecturer at the University of Illinois, and a structural engineer at Skidmore Owings & Merrill in Chicago. Previously, she was co-founder and partner at Gavlin & Reckers Structural Engineers, and also an engineer at Skilling Helle Christian Robertson, Inc. in Seattle.
