People on the Move spotlights trailblazers in standardization, highlighting their latest achievements, advancements, and contributions to the standards community.

The American Forest & Paper Association (AF&PA), an accredited standards developer and organizational member of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), has hired Elizabeth Bartheld as its vice president for government affairs. Ms. Bartheld will oversee all of AF&PA's governmental affairs activities at the state and federal level, and will be responsible for the association's political action committee (PAC) and related grassroots work.

Ms. Bartheld previously served as Oklahoma Congressman John Sullivan's chief of staff for nearly 10 years. Prior to holding that position, she worked as legislative director for both Congressman Sullivan and Oklahoma Congressman Wes Watkins. Ms. Bartheld received her bachelor's degree in psychology and political science from Baylor University and her MBA from the University of Maryland.

AF&PA represents the interests of U.S. pulp, paper, packaging, and wood products manufacturers, as well as forest landowners. Accounting for approximately 5 percent of the total U.S. manufacturing GDP, the forest products industry produces about $190 billion in products annually and employs nearly 900,000 people.
