Pawling Corporation Acquires Alpar Architectural Products

WASSIAC, N.Y. - Pawling Corporation, a leading provider of wall protection, entrance matting, athletic flooring, and parking and traffic safety solutions today announced that it has acquired Alpar Architectural Products. Alpar produces the construction industry's only truly biobased, rapidly renewable alternative to polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and glycol-modified polyethylene terephthalate (PETG) wall protection.

The purchase of Alpar Architectural Products, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, illustrates Pawling Corporation's commitment to sustainability. The acquisition places Pawling firmly in the leadership position, offering environmentally-preferable alternatives to PVC for the construction industry.

"Our goal is not only to provide an alternative to PVC, which we have done for some time, but to take the industry to a new level," explains Greg Holen, general manager at Pawling. "By acquiring Alpar Architectural, Pawling Corporation has the exclusive license for deTerra® biobased polymer in the specialty building products industry."

DeTerra biobased polymer is the only currently available polymer that meets USDA and IgCC definitions for biobased products. Made from more than 90 percent rapidly-renewable materials, deTerra biobased polymer is also petroleum-free and exceeds the performance of PVC, ABS and PETG on fire tests without the use of halogenated fire retardants.

Alpar Architectural Products, which will continue to operate under that name, is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Pawling Corporation. Lisa Britton, CSI, CCPR, LEED AP BD+C will remain and serve as the company's president.

"I established Alpar Architectural to drive change in the industry," comments Britton, "Partnering with Pawling is the best way to achieve that goal. By leveraging Pawling's strengths in operations, manufacturing and distribution, we can achieve the leadership position in the wall protection market and help drive the industry toward using more sustainable materials."

Combining the strengths of Pawling Corporation and Alpar Architectural Products, will provide customers with access to a full range of sustainable wall protection solutions backed with the high level of quality and service Pawling is known for.
