Paul Amedee to Lead Safway Group(TM) Safety Team

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Safway Group is pleased to announce that Paul Amedee has joined Safway’s safety team, effective April 15, 2013. In his role as vice president of Safety, Amedee will lead the continued improvement and advancement of Safway’s safety systems and reporting tools and coordinate all safety-related administrative procedures. Indirectly, Amedee will also be responsible for overseeing regional and branch safety personnel, as well as employee and customer safety-related training.

“Safway is committed to providing a safe work environment for ALL of our employees and customers,” says Bill Hayes, president and CEO of Safway Group Holding, LLC. “Our employees are our most important asset, and safety is paramount to our company and our customers. Paul will work closely with our leadership team and employees throughout the Safway Group to determine the best approach to behavioral-based, metric-driven and sustained safety improvement.

“We’ve made a significant advancement in our safety record over the past year,” adds Hayes. “In the first quarter of this year, our Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) in the refinery market was 0.0. For North America overall, we had a 47 percent reduction in recordable incidents over first quarter last year, and our TRIR dropped to 0.83. We expect Paul to continue to build on this momentum.”

Amedee brings relevant safety experience and leadership to the Safway Group, having spent over 20 years in the safety field. Amedee has held leadership positions directly supervising field safety professionals, as well as corporate management roles developing safety plans and leading strategic initiatives. During his five years with The Shaw Group, from 2006 to 2011, Amedee served as corporate environmental health and safety compliance manager. Most recently, Amedee served as the quality health safety security environmental leader for Champion Technologies, a global specialty chemical company serving the oil and gas and refinery industries. Amedee received his bachelor of science in safety, health and physical education from Nicholls State University in Louisiana.

“I look forward to enhancing Safway’s comprehensive safety management systems, processes and procedures with the addition of new behavioral-based programs,” Amedee says. “This will allow us to continue moving ahead and be the best in safety in our industry.”
