Cisco Live 2014 offers a unique combination of in-depth technical education and training and cutting-edge insight from the experts and organizations that are setting the agenda for the future of technology and business. The world leader in high-end network devices, Cisco's premium switches and routers include protocols that deliver detailed information about network traffic, as well as the quality of streamed data, such as VoIP or video conferencing, to ensure maximum performance. Enterprises wishing to benefit from Cisco's devices must employ a software solution for analyzing such data. Paessler's PRTG Network Monitor offers that a solution: besides offering comprehensive monitoring of heterogeneous networks, PRTG has a number of dedicated features for analyzing the data delivered by Cisco devices.

Paessler's PRTG offers features and sensors for monitoring virtual environments, applications, storage systems, data bases, email traffic, websites and much more. Together with comprehensive options for monitoring Cisco devices, PRTG delivers an all-in-one monitoring solution that gives the administrators all the information they need to perfectly maintain the network and avoid unfortunate surprises. In addition to assuring maximum performance and availability, PRTG Network Monitor also helps with a lot of other enterprise-related IT tasks: optimization of network performance and quality; savings by efficient usage of resources; and, basis for successful virtualization.

According to Dirk Paessler, founder and CEO of Paessler AG, events like Cisco Live 2014 are invaluable opportunities to maintain constant communication with customers, partners and prospects.

"Cisco Live provides an incomparable forum to share ideas and learn from each other as we showcase how PRTG Network Monitor can address the simplest to the most complex monitoring requirements," Paessler said. "Our latest enhancements and updates to PRTG Network Monitor will be of real interest to administrators and IT experts alike," Paessler said.

New Features for IPFIX

PRTG now offers sensors for monitoring IPFIX, the successor protocol to NetFlow9: The 'IPFIX Sensor' keeps tabs on the standard parameters in the IPFIX data packets. For a more precise solution, there is the 'IPFIX (Custom) Sensor'. With this sensor users can visualize data streams in individual channels.

PRTG also recently released a SNMP Trap Receiver and a Syslog Receiver Sensor. The SNMP Trap Receiver Sensor receives SNMP traps, with which network devices can communicate system incidents, outages or interruptions. PRTG receives, filters and analyzes these notifications and sets the sensor to a custom-defined status according to the content of the notifications. The Syslog Receiver receives Syslog messages from various network devices. With the help of this sensor, Syslogs from various services and components can be collected in a high performance database and analyzed centrally on the PRTG server.

In addition, Paessler has integrated a ticketing system into PRTG, which replaces and expands on the existing "To Do" function. Using the new ticketing system, administrators can manage various incidents that occur during monitoring and can view system information. Workflows can be defined for network problems identified by PRTG, as well.
