WASHINGTON-- Advanced biofuels and biorefinery platforms for drop-in and aviation fuels are ready for commercialization. The Biotechnology Industry Organization’s (BIO) 2013 Pacific Rim Summit on Industrial Biotechnology and Bioenergy will feature presentations from executives in the advanced biofuel sector discussing research and development progress and financing challenges. The Pacific Rim Summit will be co-organized by BIOCOM and held in San Diego, December 8-11, 2013 at the Westin Gaslamp Quarter.

“The BIO Pacific Rim Summit’s track on advanced biofuels will assess investment and development in cutting edge renewable fuels for aviation, for defense industries and drop in fuels,” Brent Erickson, Executive Vice President of BIO’s Industrial & Environmental Section said regarding the upcoming Advanced Biofuels and Biorefinery Platforms Track. “The Navy’s leadership in adopting renewable energy and the RFS have driven investment in this new and vitally important industry, helping U.S. companies commercialize advanced biofuels that contribute to U.S. energy security and economic competitiveness.”



With a complete track of breakout sessions on Advanced Biofuels and Biorefinery Platforms, BIO attendees will have access to presentations discussing the production and commercialization of advanced biofuels. Additionally, attendees will witness a robust dialogue on financing and the construction of advanced biorefinery platforms as well as overcoming the regulatory and intellectual property hurdles companies face when bringing a facility to operation. Lastly, presenters will showcase the production of drop-in hydrocarbon fuels from cellulosic biomass.
