PAC Strapping Provides American Association of Railroads (AAR) Approved Strapping for the Rail Industry

Once thought to be a dying industry, railroads are making a comeback. Each year, America's freight railroads generate $265 billion in total economic activity and support 1.2 million vital jobs across the country. These same railroads have invested $480 billion of their own money on our country's infrastructure and they plan on adding 15,000 more jobs this year alone. Planes and trucks might get all the press, but trains drive the economy.

In order to ship products in open top rail cars, you need to secure them with American Association of Railroads' approved straps. If your strapping does not have an AAR number (our number is 65), then it cannot be used in certain applications. Of course, getting an AAR number stamped on your strapping is not as easy as just asking and paying a fee; you have to submit samples that the AAR then puts through a rigorous series of safety and quality tests. It is a serious process because there is no room for error when it comes to open top rail cargo.

At PAC Strapping, we are proud that a number of our products carry the AAR stamp of approval. In fact, we just recently received new certifications for our friction-welded strapping and our heat-welded strapping. This is a big deal, not only because it means our strapping goes where others cannot, but also because it is another example of PAC's commitment to consistency and quality.
