P&S's Jack Wells to Receive First ANSI Electrotechnology Medal

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (Nov. 5, 2007) - The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) named Jack Wells of Pass & Seymour/Legrand (P&S) the first recipient of its Elihu Thomson Electrotechnology Medal. Wells was honored at the 2007 ANSI Awards Banquet and Ceremony, Oct. 17 in Washington, D.C.

The ANSI introduced this new award to recognize "an individual who has contributed in an exceptional, dedicated way to the field of electrotechnology standardization, conformity assessment and related activities both at the national and international levels." Wells was chosen for his individual leadership accomplishments within the electrotechnology standardization and conformity assessment fields.

"Jack has worked tirelessly to manage industry relations and improve codes and standards, and he's become a respected resource throughout the electrical world," said Mike Gambino, president and chief executive officer of Electrical Wiring Systems, Legrand North America. "Jack has been part of the P&S family for 45 years, and saying we're proud of him is an understatement. This is a tremendous honor."

Wells, vice president-corporate development at P&S, joined the company in 1962 and has held various product management, sales and marketing management, and executive positions. Wells is responsible for business development and management of P&S's industry relations with various organizations including NEMA, NFPA, IEC and UL.

The ANSI annual leadership and service awards program is a long-standing tradition, recognizing and honoring the creativity, dedication and vision of individuals who contribute to and participate in the U.S. and global voluntary standards-setting and conformity assessment activities.
