Overmold Design for New Nano-Fit Molex Connectors
Molex’s improved Nano-Fit connector series looks to offer proven characteristics of the Mini-Fit and Micro-Fit connectors with protected header terminals and a reduced profile.
This style of power and signal connector has proven to be cost effective and functional for many applications. In our experience however this type of connector lacks structure and durability when terminated to a wire harness or cable assembly. One solution is overmolding the connector which encapsulates the terminals with a durable resin such as PVC or Santoprene. Injection molding integrates a strain relief providing added flexibility and a further degree of ruggedness to the area typical assemblies see the most stress.
If you’re needing less rugged or more cost effective solution ISC’s design could allow for a discrete slip-on boot to be made for Nano-Fit connectors which could be applied in your facility.
