Open Mind Demonstrating hyperMILL® Feature Technology at Moldmaking Expo

OPEN MIND will present its hyperMILL® CAM software at the Moldmaking Expo in Novi, MI on April 25 and 26. The software is applied to 2.5D through 5-axis milling and drilling, and is supported by a strong surface/solid hybrid modeler. Feature Technology is becoming an increasingly important technical feature that can help you organize and add intelligence to CAD models for use with machining, independent of the design source.
OPEN MIND Feature Technology also includes storing machining process knowledge in a macro database so that this information can be recalled for use on future parts having similar requirements. The feature technology module works not only with traditional hole patterns and pockets, but on any curve or surface entity that is used within the software, whether in 2.5D, 3D, or 5-axis.
OPEN MIND is also a technical leader in 5-axis technology and collision avoidance techniques, providing users with many strategies to control the cutter path and the cutter's orientation in space. These strategies will continue to evolve from the use of guide curves for surface-independent calculation to automatic tool orientation schemes that will be available in the forthcoming hyperMILL v9.5.
Other recent product enhancements such as arbitrary stock roughing and stock model management, interference checking with generalized cutter holder, and improvements to the hyperVIEW simulation utility will also be on display.
