Two Griven USA Luminaires Selected For Inclusion In 2016 Illuminating Engineering Society Progress Report
Gaffney, South Carolina — Griven USA is proud to announce the inclusion of ONYX and POWERSHINE MK2 D in the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) 2016 Annual Progress Report. The IES Progress Committee selected the architectural LED outdoor surface-mount luminaires based on criteria of uniqueness, innovation, and significance to the advancement of the state of the art and science in the lighting industry.
ONYX raises the bar for ultra-narrow beam projectors where precise and uniform illumination at long distances is required. The projector combines 96 high power LEDs in RGBW, dynamic white, or cool white, with specialized optics to produce a very narrow 4° beam, capable of generating three footcandles at a distance of 700 feet. Precise beam control and excellent color mixing give designers the ability to graze taller facades or illuminate objects from unparalleled distances.
POWERSHINE MK2 D is a high-performance floodlight projector system for the illumination of large-scale structures. The dual unit system combines 192 LEDs in RGBW, dynamic, warm or cool white, with a choice of five symmetric distributions ranging from spot to extra wide beams. Additional optics include narrow or wide elliptical distributions in horizontal or vertical orientations for expanded design flexibility. The individual projectors may be specified with different distributions to achieve a variety of lighting effects. Each unit is independently tiltable, allowing coverage of tall structures from low to high, or alignment of both projectors in tandem when higher illumination levels are needed. The high-output system delivers 19,288 RGBW lumens when using 8° spot optics combined with 6500K white light.
The RGBWand dynamic white models of both ONYX and POWERSHINE MK2 D have several modes of operation, including stand-alone automatic sequencing, master-satellite, or interface with external DMX controller. Each luminaire has a continuous dimming range from 1% to 100%. Automatic over-temperature protection and self-resetting fuse are standard.
Options for ONYX and POWERSHINE MK2 D include a proprietary Polar Edition for areas where snow and ice are prevalent. The integral de-icing system enables the luminaires to operate unhindered despite snow and ice. Accessories for light control include barn doors, full or angled glare shields, or louvers. Custom mounting options are also available on request. All hardware is stainless steel.

The Progress Committee’s mission is to keep in touch with developments in the art and science of lighting throughout the world and prepare a yearly review of achievements for the Illuminating Engineering Society. This year’s Report will be presented October 24, 2016, at the IES Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida, and published in the January 2017 issue of LD+A.
