OMAX Corporation to Highlight Abrasive Waterjet Technology at MMTS

KENT, Wash. - OMAX® Corporation will showcase the many benefits of abrasive waterjets as a co-exhibitor in Spark Co. booth 625 at the Montreal Manufacturing Technology Show (MMTS), May 16-18. Visitors to the booth will experience firsthand how OMAX abrasive waterjet machines allow shops to process virtually any material, part thickness or geometry more effectively than other fabrication methods.

“The waterjets in our diverse product portfolio integrate our ultra-efficient pumps, intelligent software and sophisticated motion control technology to create an entire system that enables our customers to quickly and easily go from an image or drawing to a finished part without the need for secondary machining,” says Stephen Bruner, vice president of marketing for OMAX.

OMAX abrasive waterjets are ideal for cutting metals such as steel, aluminum, titanium and copper because they cut quickly and cleanly with no thermal distortion. These versatile machines are also fast and efficient at cutting carbon fiber, glass, stone, ceramic and rubber with no need to change tooling when changing the workpiece material.

In booth 625, applications experts will be on-hand to demonstrate how easy OMAX abrasive waterjets are to operate, discuss waterjet solutions for your company, and answer questions. Booth visitors can also explore the products and services offered by Spark Co., OMAX’s Canadian distributor. Spark Co. distributes the OMAX and MAXIEM JetMachining® Centers plus a wide variety of waterjet accessories and consumables, as well as complementary machining solutions.

At the show, OMAX will demonstrate the precision cutting performance of its compact 5555 JetMachining Center paired with the efficient EnduroMAX® pump. The OMAX 5555 is a robust, cantilever-style abrasive waterjet machine that easily handles a wide range of production runs across various industry segments. A perfect fit for space- challenged facilities, the 5555 can cut complex parts up to 1.2 meters by 1.2 meters from a variety of materials and thicknesses.

The EnduroMAX pump provides double the operating life of other designs, and makes for faster part processing, lower operating costs, and easier maintenance. It delivers more horsepower to the cutting nozzle than intensifier designs at any pump power rating, regardless of pressure. OMAX’s easy to use Intelli-MAX® controller software directs that power along tool paths with complex geometries or simple shapes. The software can automatically calculate the optimal cutting speed for each segment of a tool path based on material type, thickness and edge quality and make the speed adjustments during the cutting process.
