OMAX® 80X JetMachining® Center to Showcase Company's Latest Innovations

Premium large format machine will be equipped with taper removal accessory at AeroDef Manufacturing 2011

Kent, Washington, - OMAX® Corporation's 80X JetMachining® Center will demonstrate the capabilities of some of the company's latest innovations in booth #1736 at AeroDef Manufacturing 2011. This highly accurate, large-format machine will be equipped with a Tilt-A-Jet® taper-removal cutting head and the latest advance in direct drive technology, the OMAX EnduroMAX(TM) Pump. AeroDef Manufacturing 2011 will take place on April 5 - 7 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California.

The 80X JetMachining Center is ideal for large-scale precision machining of larger or multiple parts, and is equipped with Intelli-TRAX(TM), an innovative traction drive that not only ensures higher accuracy but also enables expansion of the cutting envelope in increments of about 6 feet. The drive is fully enclosed inside coated steel covers, making the 80X a robust and reliable system that is well suited to harsh environments and requires little maintenance. Additionally, the Intelli-TRAX traction drive enables faster traverse speeds, which can greatly reduce the throughput times when machining multiple and nested parts.

The 80X JetMachining Center features an X-Y cutting travel of 165 inches x 80 inches (4,191 mm x 2,032 mm), and comes standard with the OMAX Intelli-MAX® Software Suite, which runs on the Windows® 7 Ultimate operating system. The system can calculate the precision of a tool path at over 2,000 points per inch, allowing for complete control over the motion of an abrasivejet, and enabling precise, rapid machining.

The 80X on display at AeroDef Manufacturing 2011 will feature the EnduroMAX Pump. This innovative new product maximizes machine uptime with its 1,000-hour operating range between required pump rebuilds when run at 55,000 psi (3,800 bar). However, the new pump can also effortlessly run continuously at 60,000 psi (4,100 bar). The EnduroMAX Pump operates at 85% efficiency, as opposed to the 60% to 70% range of intensifier pumps. Additionally, it delivers more horsepower to the nozzle while using less electricity than intensifier pumps.

OMAX will also demonstrate a taper-removal waterjet cutting head, the Tilt-A-Jet, installed on the 80X. A highly successful accessory for increasing the capabilities of the waterjet process, the Tilt-A-Jet allows for cutting with virtually zero taper. By automatically calculating and adjusting the angle of the nozzle through the controller software, the Tilt-A-Jet transfers taper from the part being cut to the scrap material.

Like all OMAX JetMachining Centers, the 80X has the ability to cut a wide variety of materials, including ceramics, composites, plastic, glass and stone, as well as metals like aluminum, tool steel, stainless steel, mild steel and titanium with an accuracy of motion up to +/- 0.003 inches (0.076 mm).

OMAX believes in manufacturing the best machines and accessories possible with the best software available, and works to continually develop cutting-edge technology and innovative software for its customers. As a result, each OMAX product comes with the OMAX Technology Guarantee, which provides software upgrades for all existing customers at no additional charge.
